Why hair loss on middle age women?

I started to loose tons of hair in the shower or when I brush it. Could that be from taking certain meds, stress or Menopausal? It's there a good suggestion to stop the hair loss? I have a lots of new grown hair, however, I am dumbfounded when I see how much falls in the shower...It's scary....I am afraid to get bald...Why hair loss on middle age women?
Hi there...

First...Menopause is a cause of released hair folicles. But this will change as you continue through menopause into the post menopausal state. Second..hair loss of a small amount is common in both sexes after 45 to 50 years old. But should not be an amount that would cause baldness. Third...If you color or perm your hair and have done so for many years..STOP..the chemicals in these preparations can cause hair loss either immediately or especially over years of use. Your hair will regrow and return to normal after six to twelve months away from the chemicals. I realize this may be hard if you are going gray and hate to stop coloring but it is well worth it to get your hair back. You can color again after one year. But keep the color to a minimum!

There are no quick fixes for hair loss no matter what you may read. There are MANY gimmicks online and in stores BEWARE most are useless!

Stress also plays a part in hair loss.

Finally,

Is you life the way you really want it to be? Think about it..If it is not..Go out and change it...a little at a time if necessary. The joy this will bring you will change your entire attitude and either help to destress you and cause regrowth of your hair...or you will be happier and no longer preoccupied with something as really unimportant as your hair...in the big picture of your life...

Don't be afraid...LIVE YOUR LIFE NOW!

good luck to you...Why hair loss on middle age women?
Stress can cause hair loss for sure especially if you are approaching menopause .. its good that you have lots of new hair growing .. Check with your doctor about your thyroid levels too
when a woman passes 40 her body goes thru alot of changes. 1 factor is your thyroid. have you had it checked? it can cause hair loss, brittle nails, weight gain, heavy periods, memory loss, and etc. I myself am 48 yrs old and i just had a checkup and i am not premenoupausal here so they tested my thyroid and i have a low level. i would suggest that you go see your family doctor and talk to him or her about it. it may be something completely different.
It could be a variety of reasons. It could be a hormone imbalance.

You should check with your doctor. In the meantime, you can get

a free educational book and DVD on the causes of male pattern
